FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

THEATRE NEO WORLD PREMIERE PRODUCTION
OF “I WAS A TEENAGE HOMO” OPENS SEPTEMBER 7TH

Los Angeles, California, [8/14/07] --"I Was A Teenage Homo! A Scary Fairy Tale," Jeff Scott & Bill Fagan's new musical, gets its world premiere production with the award-winning Theatre Neo, September 7 through October 13, 2007, at the lovely Secret Rose Theatre in the NoHo Theatre District in North Hollywood, California.

"Homo!" is a disco-encrusted new musical parody of the classic 1950's B- movie "I Was A Teenage Werewolf" and crosses it with a coming out and of age story. Updated to 1978, the height of disco and wide lapels...the sweet students of Straightville USA are being terrorized by an unknown Serial Stylist, hellbent on redecorating the entire town. Beware...the freedom to swish!

But while "Homo!" is a light hearted and loveing parody of 1950's B-movies, the development of the work tells a serious story. Both composer Jeff Scott and book-writer and lyricist Bill Fagan, who had previously collaborated on the acclaimed mock-u-musical revue "Bombed A Lot!" (The Rose Tatto & Theatre/Theater), were already HIV positive at the time they started work on the new musical that would become "Homo!".

As work progressed, Bill's condition developed into full-blown AIDS, and in 1998 he moved back to his home town of San Antonio, Texas to spend more time with his family. Over the following six years, Jeff and Bill continued to work on the play, with Bill frequently visiting Jeff in Los Angeles, to continue their creative collaboration. Bill died in 2005, leaving Jeff to complete the remaining work as the piece navigated towards its premiere production with Theatre Neo.

Jeff views the finished play and its premiere production as a tribute to Bill Fagan and the work they did together, and feels that the guidance, love, and friendship of his longtime friend and collaborator is aiding him even now. Audiences viewing "Homo!", which achieves its barbed skewering of 1950's B-movies via the upbeat music, book, and lyrics the two created, will probably be inclined to agree.

The award-winning Theatre Neo is one of Los Angeles’ most noted local companies. Recent productions include critically- acclaimed productions of “Why Marry?,” “Once In A Lifetime,” and “Mall America.” Among Neo's many working actors, writers, and directors is actress Kathryn Joosten, recently awarded an Emmy for her role as Mrs. McClusky on “Desperate Housewives.”

"I Was A Teenage Homo! A Scary Fairy Tale" runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm, September 7 through October 13 2007. The Secret Rose Theatre is located in the North Hollywood Theatre District at 11246 Magnolia Boulevard in North Hollywood, CA.
