ACT I: The peace and serenity of Straightville USA is constantly shaken by the rebellious outbursts of Rock Dale, one very troubled teen (SONG: I Was A Teenage Homo). His latest scuffle escalates into a knock-down drag-out fight with his best friend. The police arrive, break up the fight, and issue Rock a stern warning. Rock's girlfriend, Donna Winters, tries to console him (SONG: The Way You Feel Is Real). Rock remains emotionally unavailable, even to his widowed Mother, who juggles two jobs and strives for quality, not quantity time with her son (SONG: My Special Man). Rock arrives for a date with Donna, which quickly turns into an arguing match with her parents, Jonathan and Shelley Winters (SONG: Like She's A Queen). After beating up yet another friend over an April Fools joke, Rock agrees to see the police recommended therapist, Dr. Merv Rorschach. During hypnosis, the Doctor discovers Rock's latent homosexuality, postulates that this repression is the real source of his anger, and determines to force Rock to "out" himself (SONG: The Road To You). But according to Nurse Beatrice Treacher, the doctor's fearful assistant, "there could be serious consequences to the doctor's methods". Sure enough, the next night, one of the students is attacked in the woods, and given a make-over against his will (SONG: Table For One). The police speculate on who or what this Serial Stylist really is stalking the teens of Straightville (SONG: Homo In Straightville).

ACT II: The police are called to the teen's hang-out which has been broken into, re-decorated, re-organized, and re-vamped (SONG: What Kind Of Freak). As Straightville panics over the Serial Stylist, Dr. Rorschach and Nurse Treacher inspire Rock to a time of total acceptance (SONG: Fabulous World). Unable to control himself, Rock transforms into "the homo" (SONG: Like I'm A Queen), and gives more students a make-over, then escapes. Donna bemoans Rock, her ever- more- distant boyfriend (SONG: The Way I Feel Is Real reprise). Nurse Treacher, finally fed up with prioritizing science over people, prepares to leave Dr. Rorschach. But before he can, Rock runs in seeking sanctuary, and more medical treatment. The police arrive shortly after, letting Rock escape, and accidentally killing the Doctor. Nurse Treacher sings (SONG: Treacher's Lament), then advises the police on how to capture "a homo". A stake-out at the teen hang-out, and a new graduation theme (PRODUCTION NUMBER: Night Of 100 Judys), finally lures Rock out of hiding. But as he faces police justice, the kids of Straightville realize they like their make-overs, embrace diversity, and accept "The Homo" for who he is (SONG: No Place Like Homo) & (SONG: I Was A Teenage Homo reprise).
